#Recap #SummerOfSteven WEEK 1 Review

Just for fun, I decided to make a brief recap/review summary for this Steven Universe #SummerOfSteven event going on Cartoon Network.

Let's quickly have a look back at this first week worth of new episodes!
As far as storyline-driven episodes, this first week was a pretty sweet mix of character-driven moments and some more look into the life of background characters of Beach City.

Some character specific episodes like Sour Cream and Lars' served as a nice break from all the more recent "epic storylines". And also a nice counterpoint to the Gems, Steven and even Greg's past.

Plenty of new funny moments.

Even Peridot (my ever-increasing favorite character on the show) got some nice development such as her finally obtaining some powers of her own (metal control!), a nice parallel with Steven back in Season 1.

And even better we finally got an entirely musical episode, which was bound to happen on such a musical show anyhow! A lot of great tunes from that episode, although I noticed a lack of new songs from recent episodes up to this point and the rest of this first week.

Steven can now apparently hijack other people's bodies, which was kind of alluded to in the Steven-watermelons episode.

Honestly if there was a low point in this entire first week, it was probably the last one, the car anime/Initial D/Fast Furious episode.

It was actually pretty decent and really well animated, but it did nothing more to me. It felt kind of filler - which is strange considering we got a new Stevonnie appearance out of it.

All in all, it was a solid week worth of new episodes. So far I'm enjoying this Summer of Steven mini-event, and I can't wait to enjoy more of these daily SU episodes!
