#Gaming NEWS! A new Friday the 13th game!!

Oh, yeah!

I forgot to post this the other week.

A new Friday the 13th game was just announced recently, it will be the first Friday the 13th game in over 25 Years!!!

(The last time we saw a pixelated Jason Voorhees was on the NES!!!)

The game is expected to feature co-op, one way or another. A competitive multiplayer mode (prey vs. predator mode?) and hopefully a singleplayer mode too. And it will see a group of survivors trying to face the unkillable boogeyman Jason, of course.

It's currently simply titled "Friday the 13th" and aimed for an October 2015 release, on all kinds current systems.

Sean S. Cunningham has recently re-acquired the entire rights to his franchise, following Anchor Bay's "reboot". And he's currently working on getting a new Friday the 13th film in theaters and a Friday the 13th television series is being developed at the moment - and this time it will actually be focused on Jason. And from the looks of it, he hopes to get it all tied together. Here's a bit he said regarding this new game:
“With a new television series on the horizon and plans announced for the thirteenth installment of the film franchise, we felt the timing was right to finally explore Jason, Camp Crystal Lake, and the rest of the Friday the 13th story in interactive form,” explains Sean S. Cunningham, creator of the original film that is credited by many as the genesis of the slasher/horror genre. “We have some exciting new ideas for a game that supplies plenty of replay value, while delivering the kinds of thrills and scares that fans of the franchise have come to expect.”
From what he said, there's an actual experienced game studio working on this project.

Personally I'm loving the sounds of all that so far!

Following the huge success of Alien Isolation and Evil Within last year, it looks like the return of proper Survival Horror games made the slasher genre finally work in games. Along this Friday the 13th game here let's not forget the upcoming announced titles for this year: Until Dawn, Splatter Camp, Summer Camp and Last Year. It sounds like 2015 will be the year of the Slasher Horror genre in gaming!!

Here's Until Dawn's trailer:

The Friday the 13th one better have a fun 1980s vibe to make it stand out! Can't wait for this!!
