#Gaming NEWS! DuckTales Remastered

Speaking of the devil...

Remember DuckTales?
Not the cartoon, the cult 8-bit NES classic from Capcom?
That one I reviewed not that long ago.

Turns out it's going to be re-released as a digital title on modern game consoles.

Which kinda ruins my point I said numerous times about "digital gaming losing old classics because they wouldn't be able to bring back good adaptations and one time tie-in games that copyrights wouldn't allow a return in this modern age".
Yeah, I said that several times, in my rants about the problem with digital stuff compared to second hand retro games.

Or DOES IT?

Turns out the best and actual only way to play old "commercial" titles like DuckTales is still hitting old retro game shops, Sunday flea markets and ebay. Because this isn't the actual oldie.

DuckTales Remastered is a brand new released that is aimed for PlayStation Network, Wii U eShop, and Xbox Live Arcade.
It's developed by the awesome modern-sidescroller developer WayForward for Capcom.
And not only is it gonna be a entire modern remake of the old game but also change it completely.
It will use gorgeous modern animated sprites over ugly 3D backgrounds.
The art style has been entirely changed, the level design as well.
New enemies from the show such as the Beagle Boys, new less original boss fights instead of the old gorgeous giant robotic 2D ones.
The new animations looks a bit cheap in my eyes.

This mostly looks like a quick way to make a buck on nostalgia.
That's my opinion so far.

Just...ugh.. This looks like a cheap mobile game honestly.

Anyway, for the three of you that will enjoy this just to follow dumb memes or jump on the bandwagon for no reason, here goes:

Awww... This looks pretty bad. Amateurish. And I've seen better fangames and indie titles. I'll stick with the original, no thanks Capcom.

  1. Last time I checked, the original game had plenty of Beagle Boys as minor enemies and also didn't have any giant robot bosses.

    1. Hi there, anon. I tend to not answer you "guys", but here goes:

Alright, here's some pictures of all the bosses in DuckTales 1 on the NES: http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d63/eyzmaster/Game/ducktales1bosses_zps7ddb9ef2.png
a robot statue, a yeti,Magica De Spell, a giant rat, a ghost, dracula and Flintheart Glomgold. The foes amongst the levels counted bats, snakes, robots and many more. And this above trailer feature prominently the Beagle Boys only glimpsed as cameos in the original.

BUT that's besides the point. The point being: This is a brand new DuckTales game only surfing on nostalgia to sell. It's neither the old original game nor a simple modern remake of it. Just a brand new title.
